HOW TO TIE THE PERFECT TIE

HOW TO TIE THE DOUBLE WINDSOR KNOT

The festive season is upon us and the right attire for festive occasions is important. The tie has long been an essential accessory to men’s formalwear, worn for special occasions and for many, for the workplace too. Therefore, it is the ideal finishing touch to your party wear. Tying a tie, however, does not come naturally to all and that’s why we have created a guide on how to tie the perfect tie, to look your best all season.

STEP 1

To start, fold up the shirt collar and button the shirt all the way up. Place the tie around your neck, ensuring the wider end of the tie hangs lower than the slimmer end. You may easily adjust the overall length of the tie to suit your height.

STEP 2

Now take the wider end of the tie and place it across the slimmer end, so it lies on top of it.

STEP 3

Take the wider end behind the slimmer end and pull it up through the hole, to bring it over the top of the slimmer end.

STEP 4

Now pull the wider end tight over the slimmer end, creating a knot.

STEP 5

Next, take the wider end behind the slimmer end again and pull it across, so it lies behind the knot, flat across your chest.

STEP 6

Next, take the wider end behind the slimmer end again and pull it across, so it lies behind the knot, flat across your chest. 6. Now pull the wider end over the top of the knot again, across your chest to the other side.

STEP 7

Take the wider end up through the hole again.

STEP 8

Place the wider end through the knot to complete the tie.

STEP 9

Now the tie is tied. To tighten the tie and position it at your neck, simply pull on the slimmer end behind, whilst moving the knot up towards your neck.

STEP 10

Once the tie is in place, fold down the collar of your shirt.

STEP 11

To complete your look, slip on a blazer or waistcoat and you are set to go!
